One week from tomorrow we are headed to FLA and I'm looking for your best beach book, biography, historical fiction or classic book suggestion. The only two genres I don't like are mystery and anything by Karen Kingsbury. :) I just read "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein, "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. All excellent books. So now that I gave you a few to check out, please give me some of your favorite titles. Thanks!

I am really enjoying The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Young adult and kinda wierd, but I like it.
Also I wanted to say that I am right there with you on the Karen Kingsbury books. In fact, while I'm sure she wants to inspire readers to be more Christ like, her books annoy me so much that they have the opposite effect on me. I've since banned them from my home.
Poisonwood Bible...I really liked that.
1) "Same kind of different as me"--by Ron Hall and Denver Moore (I think)
2) "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith.
3) The Big Stone Gap series by Adriana Trigiani.
Ranked in order of which I liked best.
Good luck. Hope you can pay attention to your kids if you find some good ones! When I get a good book, most other things take a back seat. :)
A little easier reading from me...
Firefly lane and Magic hour both by Kristin Hannah
The last summer of you and me by Ann Brashares and The lucky one by Nicolas sparks. And if you want to break out a little Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. It was a departure from my normal interests but I really loved it!! Wish I could be on the beaches with ya!! Have a great time!
I like Chaim Potok as an author and have read a number of his books. My name is Asher Lev is one. I assume you have read Life of Pi, Water for Elephants, and the Kite Runner. If you missed any of those, let me know, I have them all.
My name is Asher Lev and The Gift of Asher Lev by Chaim Potok. It was a long time ago for those. Also, Memory Keepers Daughter, Time Travelers Wife, Life of Pi, Kite Runner, Water for Elephants. I am guesing you have read most of these. I have most of them if not.
